Design & Build Quality

The HDP 50 is a compact, polymer-framed pistol that weighs just 1.5 lbs unloaded. The Gen2 update brought an improved grip texture with slide serrations, a high-contrast fiber optic front sight, and a redesigned trigger guard. While the construction is predominantly polymer, the fit and finish are solid for the price point and the pistol feels purposeful in hand.

Its easy-to-use quick response charge and multiple .50 caliber pepper rounds provide confidence during intense situations. The HDP 50 holds 6 rounds in its internal magazine and is powered by a single 12 gram non-threaded CO2 cartridge. This device averages 375 FPS over the first 10 shots and creates 8 Joules.

Known Issues & Limitations

Lower energy output: At ~13 joules, the HDP 50 produces significantly less impact energy than most purpose-built home defense launchers. It is more comparable to a strong deterrent tool than a high-confidence stopping option.
6-round fixed magazine: No quick-change magazine. Reloading mid-use requires manually reloading 6 rounds and replacing the CO₂ cartridge.
