Can a standard car door actually provide cover against an airgun?
Today, we’re putting that to the test in a controlled ballistic experiment.
We’ve got a used sedan door, a drywall witness panel to track passthroughs, and a lineup of the most popular air rifles and pistols on the market.
From 16-joule “less lethal” launchers to the world’s most powerful commercial big bore, we are finding out exactly where the limit is.
🎯 What’s in the Lineup?
We’re testing a wide spectrum of power plants, including CO2, PCP, and high-pressure big bores at a distance of 30 feet (approx. 10 meters):
• Glass Impact: Can the HDR 50 (TR50) or the HDR 68 shatter automotive glass?
• The Door Test: We start small and work our way up:
• Crosman 1077 (CO2)
• Pistelle X 68 Gen 2
• Huben GK1 (The legendary PCP pistol)
• Serpent Arms Medusa 911
• AEA Megalodon
• The AEA Zeus (.72 Cal) – Will the door even stand a chance?
